  • 1957 studied aeronautical engineering at the Technical University of Braunschweig.
  • 1964 Scientific assistant at the Aerodynamic Research Institute Göttingen (AVA).
  • 1970 Doctorate in fluid mechanics at the TH Braunschweig.
  • 1971 Lectureship at the University of Applied Sciences Bremen for the subject "Hydromechanics".
  • 1973 Visiting Ass. Prof. at the University of Maryland and Visiting Consultant at the Naval Ordnance Laboratory (NOL), Washington.
  • 1974 - 1997 Scientific Project Officer of the US - FRG Data Exchange Agreement "Viscous and Interacting Flow Field Effects".
  • 1977 - 1988 Head of the DFVLR department "Boundary Layers" in Göttingen.
  • 1983 Lectureship "Fluid Mechanics" at the Institute of Engineering Mechanics of the TU Clausthal.
  • 1986 Habilitation in the field of "Experimental Fluid Mechanics" at the TU Clausthal.
  • 1988 - 1998 Director of the German-Dutch Wind Tunnel (DNW).
