The optimization of Tiefbohrprozesses to develop geothermal energy is the understanding and quantification of the hydrodynamic phenomena during drilling under extreme conditions, ie high hydrostatic pressures and temperatures ahead. At the Institute of Applied Mechanics models for the description of non-Newtonian rheology of the drilling fluid and multiphase transport (fluid and particles) are formulated and validated. The modeling is based on the Euler-Euler method. For the measurements, the particle image velocimetry (PIV) is used.
