The goal of this project is to identify the causes of fans’ vibrational  responses using numerical simulations. Especially in the part load area, unstable flow states, such as rotating stalls, occur with high fluctuations of flow variables and may lead to flow-induced  vibrations.

The first objective of this study  is the validation of different numerical calculation methods that predict unsteady  turbulent flows by time-resolved PIV measurements. Finally, the influence of parametric parameters on the dynamic behavior is to be examined. This includes the determination of dynamic deformations by aerodynamic loads.
