One methodological focus is the numerical simulation of flows (CFD Computational Fluid Dynamics) - a technique that has increasingly supplemented the traditional mainstays of fluid mechanics, theory and experiment, in recent years. In addition to the further development of simulation techniques and the optimization of algorithms for parallel supercomputers, the focus is on the application of these techniques to solve engineering problems. The second methodological focus is the further development and application of modern, laser-based measurement methods in fluid mechanics.
