Study

Today, the subject of technical mechanics is an obligatory foundation of basic training in the undergraduate and graduate courses of almost all engineering degree programs at Clausthal University of Technology. In this subject, the theoretical principles from various areas of physics and mathematics are prepared in such a way that they can be used directly to solve specific technical problems. Engineering mechanics is thus to be understood as a bridge between basic theoretical knowledge and practical implementation, without which an understanding and holistic analysis of complex technical systems is not possible. With this in mind, the institute has committed itself to offering a high-quality, interdisciplinary education for engineers from mechanical engineering, process engineering, energy systems engineering, industrial engineering, plastics engineering, and others. In addition to the introductory basic lectures, advanced courses, seminars and internships are offered to deepen knowledge and to prepare students for the completion of theses and dissertations as well as to promote young scientists.
