Numerical simulation of unsteady flow processes in a high-performance centrifugal fan

TitleNumerical simulation of unsteady flow processes in a high-performance centrifugal fan
HeadProf. G. Brenner

The aim of the project is to investigate flow instabilities in high-speed, high-performance fans. These units are typically used in the process industry for vapor compression. In such units, transient effects can lead to a reduction in efficiency, increased structural stress and damage due to resonance. With the help of numerical calculations, possibilities for controlling the flow are to be explored and evaluated. In order to be able to predict the transient separation processes, high-quality turbulence models must be used. The project is funded by the AiF ZIM program.
