  • 1957 Studied aircraft construction at the TH Braunschweig.
  • 1964 Research assistant at the Aerodynamic Research Institute Göttingen (AVA).
  • 1970 Doctorate in the field of fluid mechanics at the TH Braunschweig.
  • 1971 Lectureship at the University of Applied Sciences Bremen in the subject "Hydromechanics".
  • 1973 Visiting Ass. Prof. at the University of Maryland and at the same time Visiting Consultant at the Naval Ordnance Laboratory (NOL), Washington.
  • 1974 - 1997 Scientific Project Officer of the US - FRG Data Exchange Agreement "Viscous and Interacting Flow Field Effects".
  • 1977 - 1988 Head of the DFVLR Department "Boundary Layers" in Göttingen.
  • 1983 Lecturer in "Flow Measurement Technology" at the Institute for Technical Mechanics at Clausthal Technical University.
  • 1986 Habilitation in the field of "Experimental Fluid Mechanics" at the TU Clausthal.
  • 1988 - 1998 Director of the German-Dutch Wind Tunnel (DNW).
